General affairs, secretariat and support to the Head of the Directorate with respect to matters falling within the Directorate's area of responsibility. Personnel management, personnel transfers within the Directorate, performance evaluation of directors and staff, and management of the variable component of salaries, in accordance with the policies and general guidelines set by the Department of General Administration, Personnel and Services. Compliance questions related to the register of assignments (anagrafe degli incarichi). Administrative procedures preparatory to the conferral of mandates for advisory and coordinated collaboration services to external personnel, and execution, to the extent of the resources allocated, of contracts and the related approval decrees in connection with the Department of General Administration, Personnel and Services for the purpose of subsequent administrative/accounting management. Definition of the Directorate's requirements and needs in relation to human resources, training, purchases and logistics. Planning and procurement of the financial resources assigned to the Directorate. Consultation, regulatory adaptation, legal disputes and legal-administrative coordination with respect to matters falling within the Directorate's area of responsibility. Compliance matters related to the Directorate's strategic planning, management control and budget. Research projects, apprenticeships, meetings and publications involving the Directorate. Organisational coordination of the project Working Papers and Economic Focus of the Department of the Treasury. Coordination and management of the relationship with the Fondazione CEIS-Economia -Tor Vergata for the Directorate's research initiatives. Contracts, agreements, and conventions for matters falling within the Directorate's area of responsibility. Organisational coordination of OECD meetings in preparation of the Economic Surveys on Italy. Management of relationships with local entities and the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in relation to the authorisations granted prior to the end of 2006, for the purposes of the Internal Stability Pact. Participation in national and international working groups and committees, preparation of related dossiers, and responses to questioning and inquiries with regard to matters for which the Office is responsible.

Office II

Analysis of structural reforms for the efficiency, stability and transparency of the national and international financial system. Impact of this sector on productivity and competitiveness, and monitoring of the most significant short-term indicators. Participation in the drafting of planning documents, especially on matters related to estimates of output gaps and public finance developments. Participation in the EPC working groups on population ageing and on the output gap. Participation in other national and international committees and working groups, preparation of the related dossiers, and responses to questionnaires and inquiries with regards to matters falling within the Office’s area of responsibility.

Office III

Macroeconomic analysis and monitoring at a domestic and international level. Elaboration of Italy's macroeconomic scenario for the purpose of drafting of the planning documents and in support of the Minister's and the Director General of the Treasury's decisions. Technical preparation of planning documents under the responsibility of the Directorate. Enhancement of databases to support macroeconomic analysis. Planning and completion of periodical bulletins on economic and financial indicators. Participation in national and international committees and working groups related to the Office's area of responsibility, specifically in the OECD STEP and the EU Expert Meeting, and preparation of the related dossiers. Support to the Directorate's activity related to international organisations, in particular the IMF, the European Commission, the OECD and the rating agencies with respect to the areas for which the Office is responsible. Responses to questionnaires and inquiries with regard to matters falling within the Office’s area of responsibility.

Office IV

Structural and cyclical analysis of key indicators for Italy's public finance. Technical preparation of work underlining the drafting of the Stability Programme. Participation in the drafting of planning documents with regard to the analysis of public finance. Contribution to the drafting of periodical bulletins on economic and financial indicators. Planning and preparation of the Healthcare Bulletin and the analysis of healthcare spending, also with regard to other EU Member States, in view of the orientation and coordination of policies at a European level. Analysis and study of regulatory provisions regarding public finance. Participation in national and international committees and working groups, preparation of the related dossiers, and responses to questionnaires and inquiries with regard to matters falling within the Office’s area of responsibility.

Office V

Analysis of labour market dynamics and wage developments at a the national and international level. Supporting the Directorate on its relationships with international institutions, especially the IMF, the EC, the OECD and the rating agencies with respect to the fields for which the Unit is responsible. Drafting of planning documents and other relevant reports. Coordination of activities with respect to the OECD (EPC and WP1) reports and meetings. Development and management of static and dynamic micro-simulation models (ITaxSim and T-DYMM) for the analysis of the distributive effects of tax, welfare and labour market reforms, and of other micro-econometric models for the joint analysis of equity and efficiency of the labour market outcomes as a consequence of tax-benefit reforms at a national and local level. Scientific coordination of European projects on issues related to the Directorate’s duties.

Office VI

Macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis of the process and impact of economic reforms. Analysis of the Italian economy's structural problems and related indicators. Coordination of macroeconomic forecasts undertaken by various Offices of the Directorate. Quantitative analysis and modelling. Use of econometric models. Management of the ITEM model, short-term models and development of new-generation quantitative-analysis tools. Macro/micro quantitative analysis for estimating the impact of reforms. Representation of the Italian position within the EU Lisbon Methodology Working Group. Macroeconomic estimates. Coordination of the MEF's contribution to the National Reform Programme and related activities at EU level (Country Examination and pilot projects for the reduction of the administrative burden for businesses). Development and management of monitoring (ECHO) and databanking (DB1) systems in collaboration with the competent offices of the Department of the Treasury. Participation in the Technical Committee of CIACE (Inter-Ministerial Committee for European Community Affairs) regarding technical issues related to the Lisbon Strategy. Participation in the drafting of planning documents. Coordination of Italy's position for the Economic Policy Committee of the ECOFIN Council and related working groups. Collaboration with Directorate III on matters related to the EU on aspects for which the Office is responsible. Analysis of structural reforms for the better functioning of the labour market. Assessment of the medium-term impact of this sector on productivity and competitiveness, and monitoring of the most significant short-term indicators.
