Local Government Debt
In order to contain the cost of debt and monitor public finance trends, Italy’s local and regional authorities are required to regularly provide the Ministry of Economy and Finance with data relating to mortgages, issuances, securitisations and derivative transactions, using the “Ceam” (Communications from local and regional authorities for monitoring and access to the capital market) IT procedure.
In 2020, the “Ceam” system will be replaced by the “Gedi” system, a new, single IT platform to manage Italian public debt. Users will be promptly informed about the various steps involved with replacing the system.
