Directorate VIII consists of 6 specific offices and is responsible for the following:
- definition of policies to rationalise public assets and enhance the value of the same, with the exclusion of the publicly-owned enterprises;
- identification and analysis of regulatory instruments to back the management, value-enhancement, and sale of public assets;
- coordination with the administrations charged with directly managing certain State assets, with particular reference to real properties, receivables and concessions;
- coordination with other public entities for defining initiatives and programmes for value enhancement ad sale of pubic real property owned by public entities other than the State, which is of interest and general significance;
- management of the activities related and instrumental to transactions for enhancing the value and selling real properties – including securitisation transactions and transactions to set up investment funds – promoted or planned and executed by the MEF;
- reporting and monitoring of the components of the assets of the public administrations, including for the purpose of preparing a statement of public assets at market prices;
- unit for auditing and monitoring the implementation of the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 175 of 19 August 2016, “Consolidated Act on the Subject of Publicly-Owned Enterprise.”
