Italy G7 Presidency: report published online summarizes the results obtained concerning financial topics

The year of Italy’s G7 Presidency came to a close on 31 December 2017. A report published online today contains a summary of Italy’s G7 Presidency, with a detailed illustration of the results obtained in the areas under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance (Finance Track). The report also summarizes the core issues of Italy’s G7 Presidency.

Prepared by Directorate III of the Department of the Treasury that coordinated the G7 Finance Dossiers in 2017, the report analyses the results obtained by the Italian G7 Presidency with regard to the four issues that were at the centre of the financial topics: growth and inequality; the coordination of international financial institutions; security as a ‘global public good’; and international taxation.
Against the backdrop of relative economic and political uncertainty, the Italian Presidency not only emphasized continuity with respect to the issues already developed by the G7 Agenda, but it also introduced new priorities, achieving significant progress in areas where it was necessary to build consensus within the membership.

The report contains links to all official documentation for the year of the Italian Presidency, with particular reference to the meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors held in Bari on 12-13 May 2017. Such documentation, which has already been partially published on the Italian Presidency web site and is again referenced hereunder, is now included in this practical, all-encompassing volume.
