The other side of the coins: globalization and technological innovation serve the ancient art of minting
Among the Treasury Department's various assignments is an activity with an ancient flavour, which hides highly topical and innovative aspects: minting. It is now exclusively in the hands of the State Mint (IPZS), a company that is entirely owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Supervising minting entails governing several different aspects, all of which are highly specialized: technology, industrial processes, combating counterfeiting, global economics, and – obviously – art and culture.
