Annex on equitable and sustainable well-being indicators (Benessere Equo e Sostenibile, BES) to the 2021 DEF published

The Annex on equitable and sustainable well-being indicators (Benessere Equo e Sostenibile, BES) to the 2021 DEF, drafted by the Department of the Treasury, has been sent to Parliament. The document contains an update and a statistical analysis of the performance levels of the 12 indicators based on ISTAT data, which also includes 2020 and, therefore, the impact that the health crisis and the measures to counter it have had on the BES dashboard. The evolution for the 2021-2024 period is provided for the indicators for which forecasts can currently be made. A specific focus developed within the framework of a project jointly carried out by the Department of the Treasury and La Sapienza University is devoted to the "Simulation of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on absolute poverty". This focus is accompanied by a simulation exercise aimed at assessing the impact of the refinancing of the Emergency Income on the incidence of absolute poverty. Furthermore, the forecast of the excess weight indicator obtained using the static microeconomic model developed by WISE-OECD and the Department of the Treasury is presented for the first time. Finally, the document contains a qualitative assessment of the individual measures envisaged in the Recovery and Resilience Plan approved by Parliament on 27 April 2021, carried out on the basis of the 12 BES indicators.
